Rick Perciante is the Executive Director of Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS). The Mission of Oakville & Milton Humane Society is to protect and make life better for animals and connecting the communities that care about them in Oakville and Milton. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) houses space for approximately 300 animals. These animals are brought in because their owners can no longer care for them or are lost, abandoned or abused. Along recused domesticated animals the OMHS also house some exotic animals as well. This organization is an independent, non-profit charitable organization, funded by donations. We are dependent on the donations from the public and from corporate sponsors to support the work with our animals. The Oakville Community Foundation has provided funding towards OMHS to provide a platform for virtual education programs, virtual kids camps and virtual tours of the organization. In order to be a foster family for animals’ applications are accepted and training is provided to enable families to foster animals. With the lockdown regulation due to COVID OMHS received over 100 applications for fostering animals. In this episode of Let’s Talk Rick provided insights on foster care systems at OMHS and how one can apply to be a foster parent to an animal. He also provides insights on the vision of OMHS and how the foundation works with the community to meet the desired goals.
